These past few months have been filled with changes for me and my business. As I designed my own website and watched it grow, I began to realize that sooner or later I would have to move my blog over to the new kalinaneely.com. I greatly appreciate all of you who have followed me here on WordPress and supported my first-ever attempt at writing in the blogosphere. I hope that you will continue to keep up with me on my blog’s new location: www.kalinaneely.com/blog. It is bittersweet to tell WordPress goodbye, but I truly believe this will be a step in the right direction for Kalina Neely Styling. Here’s to positive changes and new beginnings!
Love you all,
I absolutely love Valentine’s Day. I enjoy taking a special day to celebrate the loved ones in your life (and to buy tons of chocolate on sale after the big day is over!) This year, my love and I had to postpone our Valentine’s date due to crazy work schedules and busy weeks. But luckily for us, it turned out wonderfully-we got to spend all of a relaxing Sunday together with gorgeous weather. A visit to a vegetarian Indian restaurant, a local distillery tour, cooking dinner together, and watching my favorite movie of all time, Pride and Prejudice, made this day simply perfect.
Below is my look for the V-day celebration. I am obsessing over these tailored shorts, which I paired with tights just until that weather warms up a tad more. The top has gorgeous lace detail-because really, what’s more romantic than lace?

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of spending some quality time with wonderful friends in a gorgeous cabin tucked on top of a mountain overlooking Gatlinburg. (And our cabin came readily equipped with a huge hot tub..perfection!) It was a beautiful weekend filled with good ol’ country fun, from touring historic cabins in Cades Cove to moonshine tastings and karaoke dive bars. I definitely enjoyed a break from the work routine; it can be so refreshing to just get out of town for a while. I went for a more relaxed look, seeing as we were spending a good bit of time walking around outside and exploring. This is my look from day 2 of our trip, opting for layers, comfy boots, and throwing in a sporty edge with my leather-detailed jacket.

We all have those few things that we store in special pockets and corners of our handbags: those essential items that we carry with us, at all costs. It is a fearful thought that one of us should be caught in a predicament with one of our vital possessions not on our person…right ladies? I know you all have at least three items in your bag that you wouldn’t even think of leaving the house without. Here are a few of mine:
Skintelligence Daily Moisturizer: With all this crazy cold weather and harsh wind chill, my skin is need some extra love. To fight off icky dry skin, I keep my favorite moisturizer handy. Buy it here!
Cherry Chapstick: Chapped lips can be both painful and distracting. With my Cherry Chapstick, I keep my lips feeling great and still add a little pink to my pout at the same time.
Motives for LaLa Mineral Mascara: If I’m ever in a rush, I’ve always got my favorite mascara to brush over my lashes. It’s a quick and effective way to make your eyes look more open and alert–perfect for those mornings when you forgot to set that alarm. Buy it here!
Motives for Loren Ridinger Mineral Pressed Powder: Perfect for the afternoon touch-up, I keep this Powder close at hand. Light but with full coverage, it is my essential makeup go-to. Buy it here!
Motives for Loren Ridinger Kabuki Brush: And to apply my powder, I keep the right brush on me. This soft kabuki makes my powder application a breeze, gently placing a light layer to my skin. Buy it here!
Business Card Holder: I never leave the house without it! It is absolutely vital that I keep my business cards in my bag. After all, you never know who you might meet while you are out and about.

As 2013 comes to a close, I have been reflecting on what an incredible year it has been for me. This time a year ago, I had no idea what the new year had in store. I have been blessed with many extraordinary experiences in 2013. I began my own styling company, doubled my Motives Cosmetics and shopping consulting business, launched my website, saw my best childhood friend get married, backpacked across Europe with my college roommate, got accepted into Belmont’s MBA program..I can still hardly believe that all of this has happened in just 12 months. This has been a year of pushing myself outside of my comfort zone: it hasn’t always been easy, but looking back makes me realize it was all worth it. I feel so grateful to have had these experiences, and they wouldn’t be possible without my friends and family who create an incredible support system. I love you all so dearly. So, 2013, although it is bittersweet to see you go, it’s time to say goodbye. 2014, let’s make it the best one yet.
Today I am beyond proud, excited, and honored to share my very own website with you. This has been a dream in development for a very long time, and to finally have it be a reality makes me smile uncontrollably. I hope that each of you enjoys my work; I have striven for an artistic and fun approach to both my styling portfolio and my own items I have placed for sale. And with that in mind, as a thank you to everyone who has taken the time to visit my site today, all items in my shop will be tax free, just for you.
A special thanks to everyone who has helped me to get here. I couldn’t have done it without the love and support of each of you!
And now, with no further ado…
