This past Saturday, I had the absolute pleasure of doing Miss Haylee Pellegrino’s makeup for her 2013 prom. Haylee has a gorgeous complexion and a natural beauty. To embrace her simple elegance, we decided on a minimalistic approach when applying her makeup.
For her eyes, we blended several tones to enhance their lovely green hue. I applied Vintage Glam pressed shadow to the inner corner and half of Haylee’s lid. Then I took Plum Frost pressed shadow and swept it across the outer half of her lid. In the crease, we lightly added some Hazelnut pressed shadow to add shape and dimension. Once we were finished with her shadow, I took a wet angled brush and used the Hazelnut pressed shadow to line Haylee’s top lid, very close to the lashes. We then finished off the look with a sweep of Volumizing and Lengthening Mascara to the top and bottom lashes.
Haylee has naturally beautiful and luminous skin, so she didn’t need much in the way of foundation. We applied Full Coverage Photo Finish Powder to her face with a soft brush just to even the skin tone and take away any shine.
I then took Lust pressed blush and brushed it on the apples of her cheeks, sweeping upwards to highlight her cheekbones. Afterwards I added Miami Glow bronzer directly underneath her cheekbones to define and contour.
And lastly, we finished off Haylee’s prom-ready look with a sweep of Amber lip plumper.
I want to say a great big thank you to Haylee and her family for letting me be a part of this wonderful experience! I had such a great time doing Haylee’s makeup; she looked absolutely stunning! This past weekend, I was fortunate enough to use two beautiful ladies for my first ever Motives Cosmetics Customized Color and Style Profiles. I sat down with Haylee and Amanda and had them complete a questionnaire to gauge their color preferences, personal style, skin tone and type, and eye color. Afterwards, I took each completed questionnaire and created my consultant recommendations for the girls based on their answers. I included color suggestions for eyes, lips, and cheeks, as well as skin care products that would best suit each woman and her individual needs. We had such a wonderful time! If you are interested in having your very own customized profile completed with me, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Last night, my lovely roommates and myself hosted a girls’ night at our cozy little house in East Nashville. We had wine, snacks, and a giant array of beautiful Motives Cosmetics products to choose from. After sipping on wine and grabbing some brownies and crackers with cheese, we moved into the living room where I gave a brief presentation on the hottest makeup trends for Spring. I drew inspiration from New York’s Mercedes Benz Fashion week (still going on now!) and spotlighted pastels, red lips, and bold eyeliner just like what we have been seeing on the runway. Silly me forgot to take many pictures because I was so excited about chatting to all of the beautiful girls about Motives, but I did get one of our cosmetics table at the end of the night!
Thank you again to all of the women who came out and to my roommates for hosting the event; it was an awesome success and we must do it again soon!
Ladies, it happens to all of us; we put on our morning makeup and step out feeling fresh and beautiful. But by the end of the day, we get home and catch a glance in the mirror..aaand whoops, could have used a little touch up to keep our faces looking like that morning glow we had earlier!

It is for this plight of women everywhere that I have made this kit of “cosmetic essentials” that you should never leave your house without!
1. Concealer: Oftentimes our blemishes or dark spots that we cover up in the morning start to show as our makeup wears off throughout the day. Be sure to keep a touch-up concealer with you so that your blemishes don’t overshadow your natural beauty!I recommend Motives Creme Concealer; it covers up any spots and blends easily.
2. Powder: To get back to that gorgeous matte complexion you had this morning, be sure to keep your powder and an application brush with you. Quickly brush the powder over your face (this will also help to blend in any concealer you might have put on) and say bye-bye to that afternoon shine!Try Motives Full Coverage Photo Finish Powder to polish off your look.
3. Mascara: Add an extra coat to your lashes during your lunch break. This will open up your eyes and help you look more awake than you might feel during the post-meal drowsiness. My favorite product to use is Motives for LaLa Mineral Volumizing and Lengthening Mascara; it coats every lash and leaves your lashes full and your eyes looking lovely.
4. Lip Treatment: When you speak, people naturally tend to look at your mouth. Don’t let your dry lips detract from your conversation! Add a swipe of a moisturizer to your lips to keep them looking sweet and pretty, not dry and distracting. Motives Vitamin C Lip Treatment will give your lips the rejuvenation they need.
With these four products, your makeup will remain flawless throughout the entire day! You can see more makeup hints and tips on my blog here.
